Character Information

Name: Yusuke Urameshi
Canon: Yu Yu Hakusho
Canon Point: End of chapter 174
Age: 18
History: Have a Wiki link!
Personality: Yusuke was born to a young (14 year old) mother and a father who left them when Yusuke was still in diapers, and this molded him into the person he was before he died the first time. He was an angry kid who had no time or love for any sort of authority, and who rarely went to school. Children and teachers alike would talk down about his mother for her age, then her subsequent drinking and gambling habits along with her Yakuza association within earshot, or even straight to his face, of him. That, more than anything, is what started getting him into fights. Even if he knew what they were saying was true, and even if he said worse things to his mother. Even if he had become his mother to an extent: he drank, smoke, gambled, cut class (enough that his mother used her Yakuza connections more than once to keep him enrolled and get him his diploma) and shoplifted almost more than she ever could.
As such, Yusuke grew up alone. No one wanted to be his friend aside from Keiko. She was the only one who grew up with Yusuke who has never been afraid of him, and the only one to land good, solid blows on him. If Yusuke went to school and actually went to class, chances were that Keiko was behind it. More than being his childhood friend, she becomes his love interest after he comes back to life. Most of the things he did after coming back to life the first time were to keep her safe. Destroying the demon whistle, defeating Hiei, participating in the Dark Tournament, going to the Demon World, and trying to save the Spirit World from religious terrorists.
Though she was a main reason for Yusuke to do those things, the most important reason he did them was simply because he loved to fight. He loved a good fight so much that saving the world often came second to him finishing his fight. And part of the fact that until he died the second time, Yusuke was a very angry kid, so he was happiest when fighting. Not only was it a release of his anger and a break from his life, but he ended up making some of his best and lifelong friends through fighting.
On top of all that, he was not the smartest person. Though he claimed multiple choice tests were his specialty, one of the highest scores he received on a test was a 12%. Despite how book-dumb he was, Yusuke was an incredibly intuitive fighter. He was able to apply the theory of light (despite not knowing if it would actually work or not) in order to defeat Hiei, and he was usually able to think on his feet in order to defeat his earlier demon opponents. However, once he trained and leveled up in power and strength, he ditched the thinking in favor of using his strength to beat his opponents. Though he did enjoy a good fight, he will find ways to not kill his opponents if it could be avoided.
Despite all that, Yusuke was a good person at his core. He disliked anyone being used by anyone for any reason as it wasn't honorable. He had a soft spot for children, in fact it's that reason he died the first time. Not even Spirit World and their grim reapers expected Yusuke to give his life to save a little kid. He even offered up his own life in exchange for Kurama's because he couldn't stand the thought of another mother having to mourn for her child. While dead and doing his labors to be able to be resurrected, Yusuke helped an old man finally let go of life and a young girl ghost move (and also get revenge) on from a boyfriend who stood her up. He also threw his egg, and supposedly only chance at returning to life, in order to save Keiko's from an apartment fire.
And throughout the series, he was shown to be a loyal and true friend. He would go out of his way to help them, for the most part, and did know them better than they probably thought he did. While he had no qualms about fighting a woman, he had no respect for a person who would attack a non-fighter woman or children. Though after his transformation, some of his morals do shift. Before he took issue with demons who ate humans for food, but after he understood why and had no issue referring to humans as a "food supply" or offering to kidnap a couple in order for his ancestor to eat to keep from starving. His transformation opened up his eyes to a more grey morality, instead of looking at demons (most notably) as being either good or bad.
Abilities: Super Human Stamina and Strength: Even before becoming a human-demon hybrid, Yusuke displayed feats of strength and stamina far beyond that of a normal human during fights. He was able to stand toe-to-toe against demons of many kinds and power during the Dark Tournament without tiring, dying, or suffering any crippling wounds. After he becomes a demon-human hybrid, his stamina and strength are increased to the point where he was able to run for three days straight without tiring and to fight against an opponent for 60 hours straight.
Super Speed: Again, even before becoming a demon-human hybrid, Yusuke had instances where he was faster than normal humans could be, notably being able to keep up with Hiei the first time they met and fought.
Street Fighting: Yusuke has no formal training in martial arts at all, instead he's an entirely self-taught street fighter. This is shown by just how brutal and unforgiving he can be against anyone in fight, along with how he attacks, going for the quickest, most devastating take-down of his opponents.
Spirit Gun/Demon Gun: This is the most basic and first attack Yusuke receives from Spirit World in order to complete his tasks. Essentially, he gathers his spirit energy into his right index finger, and when ready, he mentally pulls the trigger to release the "bullet" of energy at his opponent. He starts off only being able to fire one a day, but is able to increase it to four times after training. After his transformation, he infuses his demon energy into this attack and is able to use it an unlimited amount of times a day. He can also pool vast amounts of his spirit/demon energy into his finger in order to release a gigantic and extremely powerful version of this attack against his opponents.
Spirit Shotgun: Essentially the same as the Spirit Gun, except instead of firing a single bullet at a single target, he fires multiple, weak bullets at all the opponents in front of him. He only uses it for crowd control.
Spirit Gun Barrage: Yusuke fires two Spirit Guns in rapid fire, allowing the second one to propel the first forward and increasing its damage more so than two Spirit Guns would have done.
Spirit Wave: Yusuke is able to channel his energy throughout his entire body, allowing him to be even more devastating in close range combat. However, it's also dangerous and difficult to use.
In addition to the above, Yusuke has also been shown to be able to infuse his spirit energy into his fists in order to increase the damage he does against opponents.
Strengths: Strong, confident, joker, protective, kind.
Weaknesses: Short-tempered, impulsive, merciless, stupid, intimidating.

God/Shinki: Shinki
Why?: Yusuke is a character who will be the first to tell someone that his life before he died (and at points even after he died the first time) sucked. Like majorly sucked. So to have him not be able to recall most of that, or of dying twice before and being tricked into being a Spirit Detective, would likely do him good and allow him to grow in different ways.

Also from an out-of-character standpoint, a Yusuke without memories is much easier to keep in a game where he can't leave.
Cause Of Death: Yusuke didn't press the blue button, but instead pressed the one that caused the bomb to self-destruct and kill him, along with the gates of judgement.
Vessel: A Beretta M9.
Name Location: Osuki (雄) is on the back of his neck.
Power: Supernatural strength
